Training Opportunity For Architects and Engineers

Architects (8 NYS/AIA CES HSW) & Engineers (8 NYS Contact Hours)

Join us for a highly informative training session on Insulating Concrete Forms (ICF). ICFs have been used in North America for 40 years now. Twenty years ago they were a little known foundational product and today, they are an energy efficient building product that is growing at a national rate of 40% residentially and equally as popular for light commercial buildings. Architects, designers and engineers throughout the country have found that ICFs meet their design and technical challenges easily and economically, while providing value added, green structures to their customers. ICFs have also been used for commercial projects ranging from small strip malls to 11-story condominiums and a 450,000 SF resort, as well as a wide range of residential projects.

To quote Donn Thompson, AIA (recently accredited in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System), More than ever, the construction industry is placing a high value on sustainable design and construction practices, and ICFs can play a large role in creating “green” buildings. ICFs not only increase energy efficiency, but also minimize construction waste, make use of locally derived materials, and capitalize on the green benefits of concrete.”

Designing with ICFs saves time and money for your clients. The greater insulation, tighter construction, and temperature-moderation mass of the walls and tighter construction conserve heat and cooling energy much better than conventional wood-frame walls. This reduces the monthly fuel bills up to 80%. It also allows the use of smaller HVAC equipment (as much as 50% smaller), saving money in construction. Building with top-quality ICF technology produces solid, steel reinforced, super-insulated walls, which in turn, allows you to create a green building that is up to 98% allergen free, has a 2 to 4 hour fire rating, withstands a direct hit from 200 mph winds and is virtually sound proof. Come and learn more about this rapidly growing sustainable green product that saves energy and provides storm safety as well as a quiet, comfortable interior environment.

This session will cover the types, benefits and uses of ICFs, technical and structural data, codes and reports and energy efficiency. It will conclude with a bit of hands on time featuring Reward Wall Systems. Each participant will receive a course manual and an installation manual.

"The ICF class was very informative. The instructor was top notch, and the information presented was relevant to both residential and commercial construction. The class was well organized, and the demonstrations and course material was very well presented. Both pros and cons of ICF construction were presented, ..." Michael P. Carr, P.E., Cold Spring

We will be running a class in the future, but do not yet have a date.   Please contact us if you would be interested in attending.
